Introducing our new engineering intern: Glenn James (ANU)

Glenn is in his final year of a combined Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronic Systems) and a Bachelor of Science (Physics and Geography) at ANU. Throughout his degree he has worked on a number of projects using data analysis, such as process mapping of the Canberra Hospital emergency department and an accessibility assessment of Canberra Light Rail. His degree has given him knowledge of various software tools, including python, ArcGIS, Mathematica and Matlab.

Glenn has also undertaken various summer internships, including at Seeing Machines as a hardware engineering assistant, constructing driver monitoring cameras, and at KPMG as part of the technology implementation team.

Glenn is passionate about sustainability and is currently completing his honours thesis looking at encouraging sustainable transport. During his studies he has also been involved in volunteer work for Engineers Without Borders, including travelling to Nepal for a humanitarian design summit. Some of Glenn’s hobbies include running, hiking, reading and tennis.

Introducing our new engineering intern: James Henderson (ANU)

James is in his final year of a Bachelor of Engineering (Electronic & Communication Systems) and a Bachelor of Information Technology at ANU. He recently completed his Honours Thesis on privacy issues in the offline finding feature of the Samsung Find My Mobile app. During the project, he used a variety of investigation methods to find weaknesses in the application and identify security issues which have since been reported to Samsung and the findings are expected to be released after Samsung have been given the appropriate amount of time to prepare a patch.

Outside of his studies, James has also worked at Mac1 as an Apple Device Technician, Omexom Australia as an Administration/Audit Support Officer and NEC Australia as a Relocation Technician.

James is passionate about environmental and sustainability issues, having spent time in Nepal with Engineers without Borders designing sustainable engineering solutions for rural communities. In his spare time, James enjoys exercising, video games, sport and spending time with his partner.

Introducing our new engineering intern: Jean Tan (RMIT)

Hello, my name is Jean and I am one of three new interns recently recruited by Exemplary Energy. I am a postgraduate student at RMIT, undertaking a Master of Engineering in Sustainable Energy. I was previously awarded a Bachelor of Engineering (with honours) from the University of Western, majoring in Applied Ocean Science.

My first graduate employment was with a multidisciplinary consulting firm in Perth, working as a maritime engineer on various aspects of coastal and offshore structure design and analysis, on projects for both local and international clients. I then took a year’s break to go to countryside Japan on a teaching program. That one year turned into 12 years overseas, where I gained invaluable experiences while living in Japan and Hong Kong. During my time overseas, I travelled the globe, gave birth to three babies, and gained 10 years of teaching experience while supporting my husband’s career and raising our children.

I am an environmentalist with a drive to help develop a more sustainable world for future generations, and I am excited to join Exemplary Energy as an Engineering Intern. My interests and hobbies are many and varied, including but not limited to food (eating and cooking), travel, music, photography, astronomy, reading, movies, dancing, health and fitness.
