AIRAH‘s annual Building Physic Forum was held in Sydney on Wednesday 12 October 2022, and included a joint presentation by Exemplary director, Trevor Lee, and University of Tasmania architecture doctoral student, Freya Su, (and supervisor co-author, Dr Mark Dewsbury) on the utility and impact of Hygrothermal weather and climate files currently being prepared by the Exemplary Energy team. Entitled “The impact of selected climate data on the outcomes of building energy and hygrothermal simulations”, the presentation focused on our eXtreme Meteorological Years for Water Penetration and Condensation (XMYWPC) for Melbourne but also gave an update on our work towards a definitive XMYHVAC. The XMYWPC is targeting simulation-based compliance with the weather and condensation (mould) provisions in the National Construction Code (NCC) being pursued by AIRAH’s pertinent Special Technical Group (STG Building Physics).
