Founding member of GSES, Geoff Stapleton, will be stepping down from his role as Managing Director as of 30th June 2022. Mr. Christopher Martell, currently Director of Operations and Engineering will assume the role of Managing Director of GSES going forward.
Geoff will still be active as part of the GSES’ executive team; however, this change will allow Geoff the time to pursue other endeavors.
From 1st July 2022, Geoff will begin a new role as Executive Director of the Sustainable Energy Industry Association of the Pacific Islands (SEIAPI).
Geoff helped to form SEAPI in 2010 and in the intervening period, interest in sustainable energy in the Pacific has grown substantially. Funding for SEIAPI will initially be done by GSES as Geoff identifies, develops, and seeks funding for the many capacity-building projects required in the Pacific in the SEIAPI Executive role.
Geoff will still manage GSES’ international training initiatives, as well as GSES India, leveraging GSES’ expertise in online training and Geoff’s 20+ years of international partnership building to support their continued and rapid growth as the Indian, African and South East Asian sustainable energy markets evolve.
From GSES NEWS – Company Update
GSES is a partner of Exemplary Energy in designing the domestic solar PV system used in our EWEI and our applying it to develop the flat-plate solar (mostly PV) XMYs we presented at the APSRC 2021 and continue to market. Geoff is a long-term friend of our Executive Director, Trevor Lee, and is one of the ISES directors from Australasia. He also convened the Solar Pioneers reunion in Sydney in March 2022 at which Trevor gave a presentation on the first quarter-century development of ISES in Australasia and on the 1995 editions of “Solar Progress” magazine of which he was then the editor.
