Exemplary Energy would like to congratulate Ken Guthrie on being appointed Member (AM) of the Order of Australia (General Division) for “significant service to conservation and the environment, particularly to the solar energy sector“.

Ken has been a driving force for the emerging renewable energy industry over a number of decades, in particular by playing a leading international role in establishing standards for solar thermal and heat pump technologies. He has collaborated with Exemplary Energy on a number of projects, including leading the Australian Standards Committee on solar heating and cooling which Trevor Lee and David Ferrari also participated in.
Ken has been active in international collaborative projects for more than two decades, playing a significant role in International Standards as Chair of the ISO Solar Energy Committee and as Chair and Australian Representative on the International Energy Agency’s Solar Heating and Cooling Executive committee. His experience shows that international collaboration and learning from other countries can lead to better programs developed faster, as long as the wider context is well understood.
From 2013 – 2020 Ken also worked with CSIRO to assist with developing the future strategy for the NatHERS tool Accurate and Chenath.
He has been a Board member (2015-2021) and Chair (2019) of the Yarra Energy Foundation and is a board member of the Australian PV Institute.
Ken worked in the Victorian Public sector for three decades and left Sustainability Victoria in 2012 to set up Sustainable Energy Transformation a specialist consulting company.
Exemplary energy is proud to have collaborated with Ken over many years on a wide range of innovative projects and we congratulate him on this achievement.
